Eddie Mae “Boo” Mearlon

Eddie Mae “Boo” Mearlon made her return journey to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2016.

Eddie Mae was born on November 27, 1923 in Fordoche, Louisiana and moved to Jasper Texas as a teenager. She was the only child of Elizabeth Dotson Williams and Jimmie Williams. She graduated at the top of her class from J. H. Rowe High School in 1941.

Eddie Mae was united in holy matrimony with Herbert Anderson Mearlon in 1941. The growing Mearlon family moved to Port Arthur, TX in 1944 and expanded to four daughters and three sons. Fondly known as “Boo”, she was a dedicated mother, wife, neighbor and Christian. She became a member of Rock Island Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend H. B. McCarthy. She was active in the church’s mission program and later became a Deaconess.

The contributions made by Eddie Mae during her earthly life are exemplified through her children – Margie Hill, Mary Dees, Minnie Melton (James), the late James Paul Mearlon, Gregory Mearlon (Judi), Sandra Geter and DaRon Mearlon. She was a wise and loving grandmother to David Hill (Michelle), James Kelly Hill, Christy Melton, Andre Shelton, Jason Mearlon (Stefanie), Chiniqua Geter, Tamia Geter-Cottman (Edward), Alea Mearlon and her eleven (11) great grandchildren.

Eddie Mae’s homegoing service will be officiated by Reverend Kevin McGlory at Rock Island Baptist Church on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park will be under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home of Port Arthur, TX.

Eddie Mae’s family is grateful and appreciative of the care provided by her caregiver Patricia Mooney, Omnibus Health Care Agency and Harbor Hospice House.
