PREP ROUNDUP: King nets 44 in Eagles’ win

ORANGE — Nick King turned in a 44-point performance Tuesday night to lead Bob Hope to an 81-78 win over Orange Community Christian on the road.

Chris May added 23 points in the win. Bob Hope is now 3-1 on the season.

In girls action, Bob Hope beat Val Verde Christian 39-18, but statistics were unavailable.

BARBERS HILL 69,
PN-GROVES 50

PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Indians dropped to 0-3 with a 69-50 defeat to Barbers Hill on Tuesday.

The Indians, who were led by Trent Lee’s 19 points, trailed 16-6 after the first period only to grab a 23-21 lead at the break after outscoring the Eagles 17-5 in the second.

Barbers Hill used a 27-point third period to put the game away before the fourth even started. The Eagles 48-27 in the second half.

Haden Wiggins added 14 points for PNG while Macord Martin finished with 22 for Barbers Hill. Martin’s teammate Max Armer added 14 points.

The Indians face West Orange-Stark at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nederland Bulldog Classic.

FANNETT — Despite 24 points from Daniel Sam, the Sharks fell to 1-2, suffering another close defeat before the start of their own tournament.

Sabine Pass shot well from the floor, hitting 24 of 50 for 48 percent. The Sharks were hot from within the arc (21 of 36 for 58 percent) but cold from three-point range (3 for 14 for 21 percent).

Dominique Wilson totaled 18 points and seven assists for the Sharks. Sam had five assists.

In girls action, West Brook beat Port Arthur Memorial 45-30.
