Oray P. Darder

Oray P. Darder, 84, of Nederland, passed away Wednesday November 23, 2016 at the Harbor House in Beaumont with his family by his side. Oray was born June 17, 1932 in Port Acres to the late Vincent Henry Darder and Odelia LeTulle Darder. Oray retired from Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur in 1987 as a process operator with 32 years of service, and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved camping with his children and grandchildren and going to all their activities. He also loved going hunting and fishing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Msgr. Dan Malain officiating, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday with a Christian Vigil to be held at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Oray was preceded in death by his parents and brother L.J. Darder. He is survived by his wife Patsy of Nederland; his son Mike Darder and his wife Janette; his five daughters, Paula Kay, Pam Crain and her husband Charles, Karen Linscomb and her husband Curtis, Sherry Darder, and Patti Sue Smith and her husband Michael; ten grandchildren, Aaron Kay, David Sheffield, Charlotte Junot, Shelley Crain, Kim Nelson, Jessica Darder, Amanda Hebert, Teresa Nguyen, Crystal Leger, and Bryce Darder; also ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, and his loving dog Skip; his brother Henry J. Darder and his wife Ruth Ann, and sister-in-law Selma Darder.
