VICTORIA — Lamar State College Port Arthur held off a late-charging Victoria College team to claim its first road victory of the season, 76-71, as the Seahawks continue their undefeated run through the 2016-17 campaign.

Serbian sophomore Petar Radojicic collected 15 points and 14 rebounds in his best performance as a collegiate player, leading the Seahawks to their 5-0 season mark.

The Hawks held the lead through most of the contest but Victoria stayed close by knocking down 3-pointers and taking advantage of 17 LSCPA turnovers.

“I knew it would be difficult, being our first road game, and I was disappointed in how we came out,” Seahawks coach Lance Madison said. “We need to have some leadership and you especially need that on the road. We need some of our guys to step up. We played a little timid, a little nervous, and you can’t play at the high level that we need to be at if you’re playing nervous. We need to play Seahawks basketball and we’re capable of doing that.”

Key to the Seahawks’ ability to stay ahead late was three straight 3-pointers from sophomore Chol Luk. That, along with strong rebounding performances by Radojicic and sophomore Keion Farrington, kept the Hawks out front to the final buzzer.

Farrington finished with 11 points and eight rebounds while Luk was 3 of 4 from beyond the arc for nine points.
