Early voting totals shows both candidates for the position of sheriff of Jefferson County are neck and neck.

Ray Beck, the Republican candidate, has 34,796 votes or 49.58 percent of the early votes cast while Zena Stephens, the Democratic candidate, has 35,383 votes or 50.42 percent of the early ballots cast.
