David King Vorpahl, age 64, of Groves, Texas went to be with our Lord on Oct.27, 2016 He was the son of A. H. “Lucky” and Norma Vorpahl of San Antonia. He was preceded in death by his father and survived by his wife Jill S. Vorpahl, two brothers, three sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nephews.

David King Vorpahl was born in Corpus Christi and named after his father’s friend, Dr. E. King Gill, the original 12^th man of Texas A&M. He graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was employed as a manager of Luby’s Cafeteria for 20+ years at several locations before landing in Port Arthur/Groves and called it home for the last 30+ years.

Services will be on Saturday, November 12, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Spring-Stuebner Rd, Spring Tx 77389, ph. 281-353-9774.   Rosary will be at 10:00 am followed by mass at 10:30 am. Lunch will follow at 11:00 am in the parish hall.
