Bruce Christopher Johnson departed this life Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Medical Center of SETX. A native of Neptune, NJ, he was a 1971 graduate of Neptune High School. Bruce joined the United States Navy in 1972 and retired in 1992 with rank of AMHC (Navy Chief), where he worked as an aircraft mechanic.

He moved to Port Neches, TX with his wife in 1999 and later moved to Beaumont, TX in 2004. He joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in 1999 under the leadership at that time of Rev. Randy G. Vaughn.

Bruce is preceded in death by his father William H. Johnson; two brothers Bradley E. and Timothy B. Johnson; his favorite uncle and aunt Paul L. Richardson, Sr. and Laura Harvey; brother-in-law Haywood Batchelor, Sr.; mother-in-law Frances M. Gaines.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 34 years Geneva M.G. Johnson; mother Grace V. Johnson; one brother William B. Johnson; a sister Penelope Batchelor; an aunt Gloria Henriques; an uncle S. Bennett Simmons; his best friend, Gary Brooks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors in Ridgecrest Development.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 501 W. Thomas Blvd., Port Arthur, TX 77640 under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
