Nova Claudette Ned, 62, of Port Arthur, Texas departed this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.
Nova Claudette Ned was born on September 30, 1953 in Crowley, Louisiana to Norma Henry Ned and Clyde Ned. Her father, Clyde Ned, Sr. and brother Clyde Ned, Jr. preceded her in death.
Claudette, as she preferred to be called, was reared in Port Arthur, Texas. Claudette was educated in the Port Arthur public school system and was a proud graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School’s Class of 1971.
Claudette accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and upon her return to Port Arthur in 2015, she re-united with First Sixth Street Baptist Church.
Claudette leaves to cherish her laughter and wit, her mother, Norma L. Ned; two daughters: Robyn Burton (Jarrell) and Demieka Wilson (Jackie) both of Jacksonville, Florida; one son Donald Ned (Jesseca) – Port Arthur, Texas; 10 grandchildren, four sisters: Dian Bishop – Port Arthur, Texas; Jackie Wilson (Nemiah) – Aurora, Colorado; Faye Washington (Reginald) – Englewood, Colorado; Melanie Ned – Port Arthur, Texas; one brother, Reginald Ned (Jannetta) – Beaumont, Texas; one aunt, Johnnie Bee Briggs – Jennings, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. A special godchild, LeRoy Brown, Jr.; very special friends Madeline “Vette” Mathews Hill; Stephenia Thomas; and Michael Wayne Howard. A second family, Vivian Bobb and daughters, Trisha, Janet and Andrea.
Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2016, at First Sixth Street Baptist Church, Port Arthur, Texas beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the service to begin at 1:00 p.m.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.; Port Arthur, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that expressions of love be made on Claudette’s behalf to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
