Robert Whelply

Robert Whelply, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Lake Arthur Place.
Robert was born January 14, 1926 in Port Arthur, Texas to Jay Mortimer Whelply and Bertha Kurtz Whelply. He was a lifelong area resident and member of First Church of God in Port Arthur. Robert retired from Union Oil after 36 years of service as a machinist and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Earl Whelply and Charles Whelply.
Survivors include his wife, Katheryn Whelply of Port Arthur; three sons, Donald Whelply and his wife Carol of Nederland, Ronald Whelply and his wife Kiersten of Bossier City, LA, Gary Whelply and his wife Kyong Cha of Port Neches; two grandchildren, Megan Lesikar and her husband Michael, and Jordan Whelply; and great-grandchild, Shiloh Lesikar.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Keith Beckman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
