ROCK-A-NOOS IMPROVE TO 6-3 ON SEASON

HUFFMAN — The Port Neches-Groves Rock-A-Noos improved to 6-3 on the young season with a 2-1 showing at the Huffman Hargrave Tournament Saturday.

PNG’s day started with a two-set loss to Kingwood Park. Kingwood Park won the match 26-24 and 25-19.

The Rock-A-Noos then swept C.E. King 25-21 and 25-8. PNG then knocked out Crosby 25-12 and 25-14.

Bayja Newby finished the day with 27 service points and 20 digs and Rachel Hammersmith added 33 service points and 28 assists. Marlee Barnett put in 14 service points.

Baylee Priddy led the Rock-A-Noos with 29 assists and also had 13 digs.

Libbie LeJeune had a great all-around day with 19 digs, 16 kills and four blocks.

Kaitlyn Gill had 14 kills, Cheyenne Orozco had 13 and Hannah Jones finished with 11.

Kailey Oliver had eight blocks and was named to the all-tournament team.

PNG returns to action Tuesday with a road match against Orangefield.
