Mary Ellen Sumaya, 80, of Groves passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her home.

She was born on June 19, 1936 to her parents, Consuelo Hernandez Flores and Rafael Flores, Sr. in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rafael Flores, Jr.

Mary Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, George Valent Sumaya of Groves, her sister, Virginia Rose Flores Howe of Groves, her brothers, Otilio Collazo, Jr.,

Robert Henry Flores I and Richard James Flores all of Port Arthur, cousin, Olivia Poras of Port Neches, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Mary Ellen’s life will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
