Alma June Haggard

Alma June Haggard, 88, of Groves, died Sunday, August 7, 2016. She was born on June 10, 1928, in Swift, Missouri, to Lillian Brock Ahart and Harvey Ahart.

June dedicated fifty years of ministry to the United Pentecostal Church Organization. She will be remembered as an excellent cook, musician, and singer. June will also be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Gary Haggard and his wife, Betty, of Corning, Arkansas; daughter, Rita Collins of Groves; daughter-in-law, Miriam Faye Haggard of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister, Pauline “Pep” Cochran of Missouri; brothers, Waymon Ahart and his wife, Lavada, of Georgia; Sam Ahart and his wife, Mary, of Arkansas; and Doyle Ahart of Arizona; ten grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband of seventy-one years, Reverend Kelsie Haggard; son, Dale Haggard; daughter, Cherie Crocker; grandson, Ethan Haggard; son-in-law, Dennis Collins, Sr.; brothers, Charles and Wesley Ahart; and sisters, Lois Ahart and Donna Jo Burk.

A gathering of Mrs. Haggard’s family and friends will be 9:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Haggard’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
