Harmon Ray Block, Sr.

Harmon Ray Block, Sr., age 80, of Port Neches, Texas passed away suddenly July 27, 2016. He was born to Emma and Alton Block of Port Neches on May 6, 1936 and was a lifelong resident. He attended school there and was a seventy-three year member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church.
He was a master carpenter and homebuilder for many years in the Golden Triangle area. His favorite pastime was bird hunting with family, friends, and numerous four-legged buddies, his beloved Labrador retrievers. His enjoyment of the great outdoors, the rivers, and marshes was enormous. He cherished his church and had an immeasurable love for his family. This man of unwavering faith with an extreme passion for life will be greatly missed.
Survivors are his seven loving children and spouses; Donna Block Davis and Stan, Wanda Block Savoie, Ray and Brandy Block, Sheila Block Ferguson and Ronnie, Karen Block Wilkins and Jason, Claud Block, and Theresa Block Youngblood and Danny; two stepsons and spouses, James Baker and Barbara, and Robert Baker and Amanda; sisters, Nora Lee Block Weeks, Sue Melancon, Judy Screen, Vickie Craver, and Toni Whitman; twenty-three grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-one years, Martha Dowling Block, and his second wife of twenty-eight years, Eva LaVerne Baker Block; his parents, Emma and Alton Block; and three brothers and five sisters.

A gathering of Mr. Block’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2016, at Landmark United Pentecostal Church, 2115 Nall Street, Port Neches. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Landmark United Pentecostal Church, Port Neches, with his interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
