PORT NECHES — The Jules II Addition may soon be under construction.

Port Neches City Council is set to approve and accept the subdivision during the 4 p.m. meeting Thursday at City Hall, 1005 Merriman, Port Neches.

City Manager Andre Wimer said infrastructure work has been completed and a final inspection of the subdivision was done July 13. City staff indicated that all work conforms with city requirements and standards.

The addition will be behind Woodcrest Elementary School.

Residents in the nearby River Park Estates brought concerns of drainage issues to both city council and to Port Neches-Groves Independent School District trustees last year. Those issues have now been addressed.

In a related agenda item, Council will consider approval of a payment to JCJL LLC for improvements to the addition.

The improvements include increasing the size and capacity of the storm water infrastructure to accommodate an area larger than the subdivision itself. The amount is $43,474.

Council will also consider approval of any money received from Motiva Enterprises LLC.

“The city, earlier this year, received funds from Motiva Enterprises LLC as a result of taxing errors which had occurred in previous years. The amount received was $950,517.13,” Wimer said.

The money will be divided into the sick leave fund, for the purchase of water meters and to the water and sewer fund.

“Some of the meters are nearing the end of their lfie expectancy,” he said. “We have the opportunity to replace a significant number of those using city personnel.”

Other agenda items include:

  • Scheduling a public hearing at 4 p.m. Aug. 18 for the purpose of reviewing the proposed 2016-2016 fiscal year annual budget.
  • Discuss and take action regarding the approval of an air monitoring site agreement with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
  • Discuss and take action regarding the approval of the tax office monthly collection report and refunds.
