Clarence Edwin Stanley, Jr., also known as “C.E”, 86, of Nederland, began his eternal life June 8, 2016. He passed away at his home under the care of hospice and his beloved family.

He was born June 10, 1929, to Clarence and Budelia Stanley in Port Arthur, Texas. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1949. He later joined the Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. After the war, he went to work for Texaco Refinery as a carpenter/skills craftsman. He retired in 1984 and built his retirement home at Toledo Bend. He was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge #136 AF & AM in Burkeville, Texas, and served as the Worshipful Master. He also was a member of the Shriners. He was a devout Christian and member of The Church of Christ in Burkeville, Buna, and lastly Gulf Avenue Church of Christ. He was always ready to study the Bible every time the doors were open. He loved being with his family, cooking, listening to old country music, and laughing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae, his wife Jeanine, his brother Ernest Larkin, and close friend Estelle Mayo.

He is survived by his sister, Lillie Ferrell of Buna; his sons, Jerry Stanley and his wife, Jackie and Timmy Stanley and his wife, LeAnne; daughters, Karen Creader and her husband, Scott and Renee Placette and her husband, Richard, all of Nederland; Nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Minister Joe Lee of Gulf Avenue Church of Christ will be officiating. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Stanley may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
