BEAUMONT — Police in Beaumont are investigating the shooting death of a man who was found in a vehicle parked in a ditch.

Patrol officers were sent to the 4600 block of Maddox Street in Beaumont’s South Park neighborhood around 1 a.m. Thursday after a call of a suspicious vehicle. On the way to the scene they were notified that the caller had heard multiple gunshots, according to a press release from the Beaumont Police Department.

The victim was found inside the vehicle and appeared to have been shot several times.

The victim’s identity had not been released as of 1 p.m. Thursday due to the investigation being in the early stages.
