Mary Beatrice Dowden Smith, 96, of Angleton, Texas formerly of Beaumont, died Saturday, May 28, 2016. She was born on June 27, 1919, in Livingston, to Charlie and Carrie Dowden.

Survivors include her children, Joye Linda Smith of Thornton, Colorado; Larry Smith and his wife, Tammie, of Humble, Texas; Charles Smith and his wife, Ann, of Flower Mound; and Caroline Lewis and her husband, Todd, of Angleton; grandchildren, Holly, Ron, Amy, Colleen, Adam, Rowe, Nathan, Hailey, Dana, Mae, and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Aspen, River, Dustin, Lauren, Blake, Wes, and Lane; great-great-grandchild, Olivia; and siblings, Keenon Dowden; Dixie Tucker and  husband, Walter, all of Port Arthur; Letha Powell and husband, Reverend Clarence, of Monroe, Louisiana; and Melba Peterson of Fairbanks, Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Laurence Sheldon Smith, Sr.

A gathering of Mrs. Smith’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
