PN man indicted for criminally neglect homicide

BEAUMONT — A Port Neches man who reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into another man killing him last year has been indicted.

Reid Spencer Guidry, 28, was indicted by Jefferson County grand jury for criminally negligent homicide in the death of Joseph Menis, 60, of Orange.

According to archive information, the driver of a Ford pickup truck reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended a 2010 Dodge truck on Texas 73 near Taylor Bayou in August 2015. Both vehicles left the roadway and flipped. Menis had to be extracted from his truck and was brought to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont where he died from his injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
