BEAUMONT — A Nederland man has died following a motorcycle accident in Beaumont on Friday.

The wreck occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Friday at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Franklin, according to a press release from Beaumont Police Department.

Witnesses told officers that a motorcycle, driven by a 61-year-old Nederland man, was traveling north on MLK, ran a red light and struck a 2015 white Chevrolet Suburban. The man was not wearing a helmet and was brought to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont in critical but stable condition. He later died from the injuries.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
