Bro. Richard Edwards was the proud son of the late Alfred Edwards Sr. and the late Bertha Mae Chambers Edwards born on December 2, 1949. He was baptized at an early age and member of New St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Richard attended Port Arthur Public Schools. He was employed with the City of Port Arthur 25 years and retired in 1998. He united in holy matrimony to Sandra Jean Tunwar on December 8, 1973. Richard transitioned on April 21, 2016 at Medical Center of SETX.

Cherishing Richard’s memories are his wife Sandra Tunwar Edwards; his children Elizabeth Armstead (Carl), Richard Edwards, Jr. (Paulette), Danielle Edwards and Tierra Edwards; 4 Brothers and 2 Sisters; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a godchild Shalonda Roberts; and host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on April 29, 2016 at New St. John Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas with visitation from 9:00 am to service time. Arrangements were entrusted to Gabriel Funeral Home and interment will be at Kinder Cemetery in Kinder, LA.
