Nicholas Sanders, 82, of Port Arthur, TX passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at home surrounded by family.  He was born February 24, 1934 to the late Ophelia and Nouma Sanders in Loreauville, LA.  Nicholas has been a resident of Port Arthur for over 65 years.  He retired from Texaco after 50 years of service.

Nicholas is preceded in death by his wife Mamie Sanders; son Joseph Sanders; grandson Quentin Batiste; four sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by two daughters Shirley Sanders and Mary Lock; one son Christopher Sanders (Gloria); 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; one brother Chester Sanders; one sister Delores Fontenot; three close friends Tina Polk, Chrystal Shepherd and Elnora Grant; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Sacred Heart-St. Mary Parish Church with visitation from 8 a.m. until service time.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
