PREP ROUNDUP: Indians no-hit Pirates

VIDOR — Tuesday was the Ryan Leckich and Carter Henry show for the Port Neches-Groves Indians against the Vidor Pirates.

Leckich worked six innings of hitless baseball against the Pirates in PN-G’s 2-0 victory and drove in the Indians only two runs of the game on a two-run double in the first inning.

The Leckich double scored both Logan LeJeune and Austin Bost and put the Indians up 2-0 in the first.

Leckich struck out seven batters on the mound and only walked three. Henry threw the final inning and did not give up a hit with two strikeouts and one walk. He threw 69 pitches, 47 for strikes.

Henry was 2 for 3 at the plate.

The Indians (12-6, 6-1) are home Friday at 6 p.m. against Baytown Lee.

SOFTBALL

PORT NECHES-GROVES 5, LUMBERTON 0

LUMBERTON — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians scored five runs in the fourth and then held off the Vidor Lady Pirates.

Alexis LaBure threw all seven innings for PN-G and gave up no runs on four hits with 11 strikeouts.

Callie Jourdan had a two-run triple in the fourth and Brooke Smith added a RBI double in the same inning. Smith also doubled in the seventhy.

PN-G (18-6, 9-1) got a 1-for-3 performance from Rachel Hammersmith who scored a run and also had a RBI. Avery Hooks was 1 for 3 with a run and Bailey Crorey was 1 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored.

PN-G plays at Nederland Friday at 6 p.m.

NEDERLAND 16, CENTRAL 0

BEAUMONT — Nederland made very quick work of Central Tuesday in a 16-0 smacking of the Lady Jaguars.

The Lady Bulldogs scored 10 in the first and six in the second before a scoreless third inning that was the last of the night. Nederland (19-9, 8-2) outhit Central 17-1.

Hannah Smith led the charge and was 3 for 3 with three runs and two RBI. Hannah Goode was 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBI, Bailey Beard scored three times and Lindsey Taylor added two RBI and a run scored. Destini Trahan was 2 for 3 with a run, Kassidy Litchfield was 3 for 3 with two runs and a RBI, Katelyn Maxwell finished 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBI and Gabby Fernandez added two runs and a RBI.

Smith, Fernandez and Goode all doubled and Maxwell and Beard both tripled.

Trahan threw all three innings and gave up one hit with seven strikeouts.
