In today’s society it is almost impossible to follow your dream without having some type of negativity always in your ear. Dreamer chasers are people who choose to break society’s rule and go after what they believe in knowing that a positive outcome may not come so quickly.

For example, JaKeithen Green, a Port Arthur native, is true to his drum. He a percussionist who practices his craft every day no matter where he is. The young man lets the world know that one day he will perform with great artists, but instead of having a mic, he has a snare drum.

If a person was to hear this right now, they would probably laugh in his face. But what if I told you that one of his videos on Facebook has over 45 thousand views. His dreams are becoming reality and this is not hard work to him because he loves what he is doing.

To us he is just a young man playing a loud drum, but to him this is his way to the top and more importantly his passion. This is a huge problem with today’s society, we don’t have dream chasers anymore. We don’t have people who are willing to put in the long days and hours to achieve their goals.

When something becomes difficult we submit and give in to easy instead of pushing through and chasing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Another example of a person who followed their dreams and it paid off was Oprah Winfrey. This woman was born in to poverty in Mississippi and now she is known as one of the most successful African American women in America. She is the only black woman on the publication’s list of the 400 richest people in America.

The reason I chose to use these two people as examples is because they both give us a different perspective on dream chasing. We have a young man on the local level who is dedicated to his craft and becoming the best he can be.

Another story was to show a person who was just known as another statistic accomplish goals that no person could see coming. Times are going to get difficult and people are going to speak negativity toward you when you are being different.

Christopher Reeves stated, “So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” It is going to be difficult at first, but that’s where your passion kicks in at and you must push through the self-doubt and negativity.
