Two Port Arthur businesses housed in a connecting building were destroyed by fire early Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called the 2800 block of Gulfway Drive shortly after 5 a.m. April 2 and found that Hatch General Construction and G-Rydes businesses were engulfed in flames. Crews spent about nine hours working the scene and digging out hot spots, Port Arthur Battalion Chief Jay Fountain said.

No injuries were reported.
