Billy Clent Davis

Billy Clent Davis, 84, of Nederland, Texas passed away March 27, 2016.  Bill was born October 2, 1931 in Rose Bud, Texas, to the late Chris Davis and Thelma McClain Davis.

Bill was a member of Magnolia Assembly of God Church.  He was a Master Mason – South Park Lodge #1320 and also a member of the AMA – Academy of Model Aeronautics.

Bill grew up in Rose Bud, Texas, where he worked in his father’s Black Smith shop after school.  He attended Rose Bud High School, where he was known as the “Golden Toe”.  Bill went to college at Lamar University, on a football scholarship.  After college, he worked as a machinist for Ideco and later, DuPont Beaumont Works, until he retired.  Bill was active in building and flying model airplanes.  He built several of his own airplanes from scratch.  He taught many of his friends and family how to fly the planes.  Bill gave his to time and money to many organizations such as, Boys Haven, Toys for Tots and Bob Hope School.  Over the years, he became friends with many flyers, church members, family friends and co-workers.  He will be missed by all of us, although he will be glad to see all of his family and friends in Heaven.

Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis; daughter, Debra Jordan-Leger; son, Chris Davis; step-son, Frank LeBlue; grandchildren, Brad, Derick, Stephen and Bethany; step-grandchildren, Frank III and Valerie. 19 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son Keith; sisters, Ruby, Christine, Eulah and Lois; brothers Woodrow and Jerry.

A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Rose Bud, Texas.
