The United Board of Missions is organizing a drive to help the victims of the flooding in Orange County.

“We felt the need to help these people in desperate need and wanted to reach out to our neighbors in other counties,” Mae Terro, executive director of the UBM, said.

UMB normally assists those in Mid and South Jefferson County but Terro and the UBM’s board of directors, decided to reach out to their neighbors and assist in their time of need.

Terro has been in touch with law officials in Orange County and learned the items that sought.

Items include: water, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items for both men and women, toothpaste and toothbrushes, baby items such as car seats, strollers, portable cribs, diapers and baby wipes, and Ziploc style bags. Clothing is not needed at this time.

A U-Haul will be parked at the facility, 6650 Ninth Ave., form 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Terro said the U-Haul will be brought to a designated delivery location on Monday.
