Eugenia (Cowoo) Oliver

Eugenia (Cowoo) Oliver, 80 of Groves, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving and dedicated family.  Eugenia was born in Port Arthur on March 23, 1935 to Florence and Elias Romero, Sr.  She was a lifelong resident of the Port Arthur area and attended Thomas Jefferson High School.
Eugenia was preceded in death by her parents Florence and Elias Romero Sr.; sisters, Lillian Romero, Mabel Romero, Audrey Lea Romero, Mickey Romero, Mildred Brevell, Rose “Totsy” Mason and Lucille Vizena; brothers Stanley Romero, Lover Romero, Roy Romero, George Romero, Elias Romero, Jr. and Dewey Romero, Fr. Joseph John Romero.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Vernon (Skeeter) Oliver, children, Charlene Meriwether and husband Ross of Denver, Colorado, Paul Oliver and wife Arlene of Groves, Texas, Bernadette (Bernie) Anderson and husband Alan of La Porte, Texas and Vernon (NuNu) Oliver, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas.   She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister Ann Hinds of Orange, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday evening, March 4, 2016 from 5-8 pm with a Rosary recited at 6:00 pm at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 3840 Woodrow Dr., Port Arthur on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church 2000 Nall Street, Pt. Neches, TX 77651 in the name of Eugenia Oliver.
