Eva Mae Jackson

Eva Mae Spears Jackson of Port Arthur, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at her home surrounded by family members and friends.  She was a native of Simmesport, Louisiana and a resident of Port Arthur, Texas for over 64 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Jackson Jr., daughter Gabriella Jackson, parents, James and Edna Spears, sister Lena Foster and brother Ebray Spears Sr.
She is survived by 6 daughters, Linda Babino (Haywood), Jessie M Jackson, Perrel Chambers, Judyette Jackson and Regina Cornell(Harold) all of Port Arthur and Velena Pinkney of  Brookeland, Texas, 2 sons, Mecheal Jackson of  Port Arthur and Samuel Jackson (Jerri) of  Beaumont, Tx, 4 sisters, Manerva Thornton, Gracie Watkins, and Mary Sims all of Port Arthur and Janie Lloyd of Kansas City, Mo., 4 brothers, Aaron Spears (Patricia) and Joseph Spears (Linda) of Port Arthur, Dempsey Spears (Casey) of  Simmesport, La. and Phillip Spears (Dean) of Baker, La., 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and devoted friends.
She was a faithful member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful worker serving as Mission President, Deaconess President, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and also Mother of the Church. She also served at Shiloh Baptist Church for many years prior to reuniting with Mt. Calvary. After reuniting with Mt Calvary, she helped the church rebuild physically and spiritually and she continued to do so until her health prevented her. Her love for the Lord and service in the church can be seen by the impact she had on the lives of so many.  She will be truly missed by all.
Services are scheduled for Friday, February 19, 2016 at Rock Island Baptist Church, 549 West 11th Street, Port Arthur, Texas at 12:00pm.  Viewing is scheduled from 10:00am – 12:00pm. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home
