Robert Louis Franklin, 90, of Nederland, died Monday, February 1, 2016. He was born on December 27, 1925, in Bluffton, Missouri, to Maude Ella Bratton Franklin and Robert Louie Franklin.
Robert was a United States Army veteran and a Merchant Marine veteran, having served in World War II. He retired as a Master Merchant Seaman from Texaco Marine after thirty-seven years of service. Robert was a member Senior Bowling League. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, and watching football.
Survivors include his daughter, Jerrie Franklin Muriel and her husband, Fernando, of Round Rock; nephew, Robbie Stacey and his wife, Kristina,; great-niece, Kaitlyn Stacey; and great-nephew, Dylan Stacey, all of Allen; sisters-in-law, Margaret Stacey of Dripping Springs, Irene Ethington of Columbia, Missouri, and Louise McJunkin of Greenville, South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nina Elizabeth Franklin; and daughter, Stacie Lynn Franklin.
A gathering of Mr. Franklin’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A committal of Mr. Franklin’s cremated body will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
