Anthony Ollen Carriere

Anthony Ollen Carriere, 83, of Groves, TX passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016, in Galveston, TX. Ollen was born December 4, 1932 in Leonville, La., to Hilda and Leonce Carriere. He grew up in Port Arthur, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School.  After graduating, Ollen went to work for the Texas Company and retired from Texaco after 40 years.  He was a devout Catholic and loved his family and Cajun heritage. Raising four children, Ollen taught his family the importance of values and faith. Ollen really enjoyed taking his family camping at Dam B, often staying weeks at a time.  After retiring, he along with his wife Georgette joined the Silver Streak Travel Trailer Club and traveled the United States.
Ollen was preceded in death by his parents, Leonce Carriere and Hilda Marks Carriere; son, Terry Carriere and brother, Carroll Carriere. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgette Carriere; daughter, Roxanne Carriere Daws and husband Mike; sons, Bert Carriere and Neil Carriere; sister, Mary Lou Whitaker. Ollen had eight grandchildren Jason and Ryan Daws, Blake, Colton, Alexandria and Addyson Carriere, Amanda Dillon and husband Justin and Quinton Carriere. Ollen also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Austyn and Jace Dillon and a host of family and friends to cherish his memories.
A Christian Vigil and Rosary will be recited Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
