Triangle Photo Group names Oler Photographer of the Year

The Triangle Photo Group announced its annual “Photographer of the Year” award at its monthly meeting held at the Groves Library. Bruce Oler of Port Arthur was the clear winner in the competition with 95 total points. Darlyne Hartman of Bridge City won second place this year after being the overall winner last year in the first competition. The guest presenter of the award was Jimmy “Santa” Quebedeaux.

Tracee Boucher of Colmesneil earned third place honors while Martha Sundermeyer of Port Arthur came in fourth place. Mary Carter and Cathy Hidahl, both from Nederland, won fifth and sixth place respectively and Carrie Snook of Vidor won seventh place.

The group has an average of 15 members and the group is open to all photographers of all skill levels to attend the monthly meetings. The mission of the group is to present various techniques and modalities available in the photography industry. There are guest speakers each month teaching various topics including high key/low key, cropping, painting with light, alphabet photo art and how to participate in contests.

The group also encourages participation in local contest such as the Pecan Festival, CavOILcade, Port Neches RiverFest and Nederland Heritage Festival as well as the Rice Festival and the Silsbee Icehouse Museum contests.

Photo group Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Groves Public Library from 6-8 PM. The public is welcome. For more information email at trianglephotogroup@gmail.com or just attend the meeting at the library.
