BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lady Titans bounce Lady Deer on road

DEER PARK — Jakeira Ford nearly scored as many points as Deer Park did.

Ford finished with 22 points, hitting 10 of 20 from the field, and Port Arthur Memorial routed the Lady Deer 42-26 in District 21-6A girls basketball Tuesday night.

Ford also had 12 rebounds for a double-double, pulling down five of them on offense. Channel Hamilton was impressive defensively with three steals and finished with 11 points and five rebounds while facilitating the offense with four assists. No other Memorial player had more than two points.

April Garcia scored nine points to lead Deer Park.

Memorial (13-8, 3-1 in 21-6A) visits Baytown Sterling on Friday.

 

GCM 57, PN-G 23

BAYTOWN — The Goose Creek Memorial Lady Patriots defeated the Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians 57-23 in District 22-5A play Tuesday.

Taylor Johnson finished with eight points and 15 rebounds for PN-G. Teammate Hannah Jones added seven points and five boards while Khloe Droddy finished with four points and six rebounds.

The Lady Indians host Lumberton on Friday.

Also in girls basketball, Beaumont Ozen beat Nederland 56-36 in Nederland, and Big Sandy downed Sabine Pass 68-10 in Dallardsville.

In boys basketball, Deer Park defeated Memorial 55-43 in Port Arthur, and Big Sandy routed host Sabine Pass 102-36. No statistics were immediately available for either game.
