The following year she would graduate from Thomas Jefferson High school. She attended Port Arthur Business College, and was employed by KCS Railway and Firestone Tire. Jasper preceded her in death in 1989. During her lifetime Melba nourished the people around her with faith and love. She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with friends. Melba was a member of St. Peter’s The Apostle Catholic Church and attended daily worship there. In service to her faith and church she was a member of the alter society, and a minister of communion to the sick and homebound. Old Indian Prayer
When I am dead, cry for me a little think of me sometimes, but not too much.
It is not good for you, or your wife, or your children
to dwell to long on the dead.
Think of me now and again, as I was in life at some moment, that it is pleasant to recall, but then not for long.
I am at peace and I shall give you too peace.
While you live, let your thoughts be mostly with the living.
Amen.
