CARDS TOP PANTHERS IN BC CLASSIC
BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City Cardinals kicked off their own tournament Monday with a 60-41 win over the Anahuac Panthers.
Bridge City (5-7) got 15 points from Graydon Glover and 14 by Ryan Mirabella in the victory. Justin Romero pitched in nine points for the Cardinals.
Anahuac (2-8) had 13 points come from Melvin Spencer and Bret Looley scored 10 points.
The Panthers led 20-14 after the first quarter before the Cardinals held Anahuac to four points in the second.
Bridge City built a 27-24 lead at the break.
The Cardinals then led 47-33 after the third. Bridge City outscored Anahuac 13-8 in the game’s final 8 minutes.

STATE
HOUSTON ROLLS OVER NICHOLLS STATE
HOUSTON (AP) — Devonta Pollard scored 18 points and Houston defeated Nicholls State 76-49 on Monday.
Pollard made all six of his first-half shots and Houston (10-2) led 31-20 despite missing all 10 of its three-pointers. The Cougars outscored the 4-9 Colonels 20-5 to open the second half and led by as many as 29.

TEXAS’ RIDLEY BREAKS LEFT FOOT
AUSTIN (AP) — Texas center Cameron Ridley has a broken left foot and is out indefinitely.
Ridley, a 6-foot-10, 290-pound senior, suffered the injury during practice Sunday. He will undergo surgery Tuesday. There is no timetable for his return, though coach Shaka Smart says he hopes to have Ridley back this season.
