A graduate of Iona College and George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, and a fellow of Infectious Diseases at both Brown University and University of Miami, Rosario also served his country in Vietnam as a medical doctor and Captain in the U.S. Army. He later married Gloria on June 23, 1973 in New York and they started a family and a small medical practice there.
