Cervantes steps down as Lamar soccer coach

BEAUMONT – Orlando Cervantes has resigned his position as Lamar University head soccer coach announced Director of Athletics Jason Henderson Wednesday afternoon. Cervantes has served as the program’s head coach for the past four seasons.

The third coach in program history, Cervantes took over the program prior to the 2012 season and guided the team to an 11-win campaign and a spot in the Southland Conference tournament. The Cardinals went 31-41-6 (.436) in his four seasons, including an 8-11-1 (.425) mark this past season.

A national search has begun to find Cervantes’ replacement
