At approximately 7:10am, there was a two vehicle crash on FM 1013 in Jasper County.  The crash occurred near FM 1005 and involved a Kirbyville Independent School District school bus.

A Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on FM 1013.  The driver of the Chevrolet failed to control her speed and struck the Kirbyville ISD school bus from behind.  The school bus driver had just loaded students onto the bus and had deactivated its red flashing lights in order to proceed on the school route.  According to the driver of the Chevrolet, the rising sun affected her ability to see the school bus.  At the time of the crash, there were thirty-five (35) students on the school bus.  FM 1013 has no improved shoulders.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Brenda Wilkerson (50) of Spurger, was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital.  Her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.  One of the students, a 9-year old, was released to his parents to be evaluated for possible injuries.
