GROVES — The future of Groves’ Swimming Pool and future improvements to the city’s parks are on the table for discussion during the 5:30 p.m. meeting on Monday at Groves City Hall.

Groves City Manager D. Sosa said he expects to have cost estimates for pool repairs to present to council at the meeting.

“This will give us a good idea of the cost if council decides to make improvements to the pool,” Sosa said.

The pool, which was build around 1955, has some issues to be dealt with.

“The electrical is probably one of the biggest concerns,” Sosa said, adding that the electrical portion is housed in a small building near the pool and termites have begun to damage the building. Plumbing is another issue that needs to be addressed.

The city is looking at future recreational improvements to city park property that include: Chris Roark Lions Park, 8.9 acres; Wesgroves Park, 7.6 acres; Wesgroves Adult Park, 5.26 acres; and Memorial Park, 3 acres.

Sosa said he would like to see the restrooms at Wesgroves Adult Park addressed as well as work on a lift station near Memorial Park to possibly eliminate a sewer smell.

Other agenda items include:

  • Consider approval of an amendment to the Interlocal Agreement for the South East Texas Regional Radio System and Texas Department of Public Safety.
  • Consider approval of an ordinance abandoning and vacating a dedicated 10 foot drainage and utility easement in Lot 11, Block 6 of the Country Club Estates and the Country Club Estates Replat.
