Moses, Trainer submit campaign finance reports for PA Council race

Two of the four candidates running the Port Arthur Position 7 City Council seat filed their first campaign finance report, which, according to state election law, was due Monday.

Charlotte Moses and Reginald both filed the document listing expenses and contributions at City Hall.

The two other candidates, Thomas J. Henderson and Antoine Leonard Freeman Sr. as of Tuesday afternoon had not filed their campaign finance report.

All are running for the seat vacated by Derrick Freeman, who is seeking the mayoral seat in the May election. The winner will be decided in a special election on Nov. 3.

Moses’ report indicated the Port Arthur businesswoman has thus far spent $3,020 on her campaign and taken in a total of $3,824 in campaign contributions.

Moses’ expenditures include items such as printing expenses, food/beverage expenses, event expenses, and advertising and contract labor.

Those contributing more than $100 to her campaign include: Christopher Akbari, $500; Mar-Gen Enterprise, $100; Morline Guillory, $100; Georgine Guillory, $100; Marsha Thigpen, $100; Judith and Dallas Smith, $100; Stuart Salter, $100; Joe Wilson, $300; Carl Griffith Jr., $200; Unite Port Arthur, $1,500 and Hue Phuong Tat, $100.

Trainer’s report indicates he has received $620 in political contributions and $500 for expenses associated with advertising.

All of his contributions are less than the $50 limit required for disclosure of identity.

Final campaign finance reports are due by Oct. 26.

Early voting by personal appearance begins Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 30.
