LaVern Rose McCombs

LaVern Rose McCombs, 81, of Port Arthur, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on December 22, 1933, in Marco, Indiana, to Laura Ethel Harrah and William Ted McCombs.
LaVern retired from The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company in Tesse Haute, Indiana after twenty years of service. She loved baking and cooking for people. LaVern was also involved in dog rescue, volunteering and fostering through Pups in Peril.
Survivors include Kelly Pickard and her husband, Mike, of Groves; Katie Bond and her husband, Jordan, of Beaumont; Beverly Cutshall and her husband, Robert, of Port Neches; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Raymond McCombs.
A gathering for Ms. McCombs will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 4, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Ms. McCombs’ cremation arrangements were made through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
