Nel Ernestine Bennett, 92, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on August 22, 2015, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00am.
Born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, on August 20, 1923, she was the daughter of Eugene Laborde and Ernestine (Miller) Laborde. Nel was a charter member of Heritage House Museum in Orange, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Bennett; her parents; and her brother, John Edward Laborde.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Walters and husband, Ted, of Bridge City, Mark David Bennett, of Bridge City, and Lisa Firmin and husband, Wayne, of Groves; grandchildren, Loren Troy Bennett and Cimeron Lee Bennett; 1 great-granddaughter, Avery Hana Bennett; and sister, Evelyn Kinchen.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Edwards, Mark David Bennett, Greg Veazey, Carl Carreira, Reid Felder, and Ronnie L. Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be César Aquirre, Howard Lyssy, and Ted Walters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage House at 905 W. Division St, Orange, Tx 77630.
