PORT ARTHUR – Darnella (Dee) Fontenette Anderson, age 62, of Port Arthur, passed away on Friday, July 24th, 2015 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas surrounded by family.
Darnella was born February 7, 1953 in Port Arthur, Texas to Whitney Fontenette and the late Lucille Fontenette. She was a resident of Port Arthur for many years and a 1971 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. She attended Southern University and was a long time resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She returned to Port Arthur, Texas where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Darnella is survived by her sons Skylar Anderson of Beaumont, Texas, Wilbert Anderson Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; daughter, Deanna Johnson of Port Arthur, Texas; three brothers, Eddie Fontenette, Timothy Fontenette (Cathy), and Terry Fontenette all of Port Arthur, Texas; sister, Tammy Fontenette Cartwright (Mitch) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Jazmyne, Daniele, Aamiyah, Will, Skylar, Jared, Tylar who lovingly called her Mama Dee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service for Darnella will be held at 11:00am Friday, July 31st, 2015 at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church located at 227 Highway 365, Port Arthur, Texas 77640. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. until service. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
