Irma Jean Fontenot Owens stepped into eternity on July 11, 2015. A lifelong resident of Port Arthur, TX, Irma was born April 7, 1932 to the union of Pearl & Artemore Fontenot.
Irma was married to Fred Owens, Jr. and the two owned and managed several rental homes in the area. She was a member of Thomas Blvd. Church of Christ. “Mother” was a genuine person who enjoyed her children, seaport coffee, cards/dominos and Mr. Fred especially.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a son Louis ‘G.G.’ Moore Jr., sisters Estelle, Sadie, Exer, Ellen, and Gloria brothers Melvin, George, and Gilford.
She leaves to cherish her memory loving husband Fred Owens, Jr., 5 children, Exer Gardner, Chandra Scoop Smith (Danny), Fredrick Lewis Sr. (Dinah), Fred Pepper Owens III, Freda Owens. brothers; John Pie Fontenot (Doris) of Waco, Murry Slick Fontenot (George Anna), 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 18, 2015, 12 noon. at Thomas Blvd. Church of Christ 2948 Thomas Blvd.  Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Hannah Funeral Home Inc.
