On July 9, 2015 Lela Ozell Baptiste departed this earth.  A native of Rayville, LA, she was a longtime resident of Port Arthur.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Baptiste; son Edward Butcher and granddaughter Edwarnette Butcher; 8 siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories 3 daughters Vernita Limbrick, Bridget Carter and Chelmane Cohea; a host of grandchildren, great and great- great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A wake is scheduled from 6 pm until 9 pm Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Gabriel Funeral Home.  Funeral service is schedule for 10 am Friday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Henry Lee Cohea, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
