Felix V. Soliz

Felix V. Soliz, 94, of Groves went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2015.
He was born on November 23, 1920 to Maria Vallejo Solis and Dionisio Solis in Leon, G. T. O., Mexico. Felix came to the United States in 1927. He earned his High School GED and was named Valedictorian of his class. Felix served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was involved in Normandy invasion as a radio operator. He retired from Ameripol Synpol as an operator after 30 years of service. Felix was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves, where he served in the choir. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4820 in Port Neches and was active in LULAC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Theresa Garcia, his brothers, Don, Johnny and Benito along with his wives.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Soliz of Groves, Judy Soliz Edgerton and her husband, Woody of Groves, his son, Richard Soliz and his wife, Kitty of Boise, Idaho, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters, Maria S. Burns and her husband, Charles of Port Arthur, Anna M. Solis, Henrietta Solis, Victoria Melancon and her husband, William all of Nederland, his brothers, Jim Solis and his wife, Henrietta of Groves, Austin Solis and his wife, Marjorie of Port Arthur along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, July 10, 2015 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial with full military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
