NEDERLAND — The Marion & Ed Hughes Public Library has expanded its services with streaming video available to enjoy from the Houston Area Digital Media Catalog at http://hadc.lib.overdrive.com.
Library card holders login with their card number to browse a streaming video catalog of over 200 titles with a modern, easy-to-use viewing experience. Once a video selection is made, they can borrow the title and stream on most mobile and desktop devices.  All videos will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees! This new service, powered by OverDrive, is free for users with a library card from the Marion & Ed Hughes Public Library.
Some of the titles include the coming of age drama, “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints;” the epic animated adventures of “Maya the Bee: The Movie;” “LymeLife” starring Alec Baldwin; and “Texas Killing Fields” with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. To see what else is available, visit http://hadc.lib.overdrive.com, login, click on “advanced search”, then under Formats select “Streaming Video” and click the search button. If you have a problem, just give us a call at 722-1255 and a staff member will talk you through it.
You can also find helpful tools and information, such as contacting support, by clicking the Help button on the digital collection. There is also a special help page (http://tinyurl.com/pccktvy) with information about using streaming video.
This is a great addition to the Library’s online services and the Library staff is very excited about the pilot project and the potential of this online service, a press release from the library said. If the pilot project is successful, new video titles will be added to the collection as they become available. The purchase of the streaming videos was through a program called OverDrive Advantage was made possible by a grant from the Wilton & Effie Mae Hebert Foundation.
