Pablo Castaneda

Pablo Castaneda, 76, of Groves, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013.  He was born April 7, 1937 in Port Arthur to the late Cenobio and Carmen Castaneda.  Pablo was a lifelong resident of the area and proudly served his country in the United States Army and later retired as a Supervisor with Texaco.

Pablo is described as a headstrong, confident and loving man.  Pablo was devoted to his family, friends, and his faithful dogs.  He and his business partner, Pat Richard owned Rose Ridge Florist and had multiple locations in the area and was a member of the local YMCA.  He will be greatly missed by many in his family and his community.

Pablo is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Irene DeLuna and Mary Ramos and brother, Cenobio Castaneda, Jr.

Pablo is survived by his brothers, Roy Castaneda and his wife Louise of Groves; Jessie Castaneda and his wife Helen of Bridge City; Alex Castaneda and his wife Gerene of New Llano, Louisiana; Simon Castaneda of Groves; sister, Amparo Capallero and her husband Cesar of Beaumont; Goddaughters, Maria Cisneros, Maria White, Christina Puente and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery with Rev. T. R. Blanco officiating.
