Sheriff’s Office seeks help identifying murder victim

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Monday to release additional information in an attempt to identify the murder victim whose body was discovered late Friday along a canal road off Tram Road in Rural Jefferson County.

The victim is identified as a black female approximately 40-50 years of age, 5-foot-9 weighing about 300 lbs. She has black hair with some graying, protruding top teeth with a significant gap, no tattoos and painted toe and finger nails maroon or red. The ring finger on each of her hands had rings.

An autopsy was completed Monday morning and officials are awaiting the results.

“This individual is someone’s daughter, mother, sister or neighbor. We believe due to the location the body was located that there is a high probability that the victim is from Beaumont, but may be from another area. If anyone knows of an individual that matches the victims description, please contact them to verify their condition. If you are unable contact an individual matching the deceased description please call the Jefferson

County Sheriff’s Office at 409-835-8411,” Rod Carroll of the Sheriff’s Department said in a press release.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call at 5:03 p.m. Friday of a body along a canal roadway off of Tram Road in rural Jefferson County. The roadway is an entry point to a hunting lease. The scene was processed by the Jefferson County Crime lab. The investigation is being led by deputies with the criminal investigation division.
