Charles Anthony “Bones” Melancon

Charles Anthony “Bones” Melancon of Nederland, Texas died on December 17, 2012. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on March 12, 1936. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1955 where he was a Three Year Letterman in his favorite sport, football. He served in the Air Force and retired from the Operating Engineers Local #450 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas #1264 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #228.
Charles was preceded in death by his son, Jayde “Jaco” Melancon; his parents, Mitchell and Rena Melancon; his sisters, Dorothy and Gloria; and brothers, Irving, Roland, Donald, and Lester.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Melancon; son, Zayne Melancon and wife, Rhonda; daughter, Mollie Holdren; loving dog, Dee Dee; sisters, Barbara Ann and Elaine; brother, Russell; granddaughters, Jayde and Miranda; grandsons, Cody and Michael; and step-granddaughter, Ginger.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Rev. Patrick Hunter officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19th at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
