Marrie Borden Howell

Marrie Borden Howell passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012.
She was born on September 30, 1928 to Marrie and Lee Borden in Mount Pleasant, Grand Cayman B.W.I. Marrie is survived by her devoted and loving husband, James G. Howell of West Bay, Grand Cayman B.W.I. whom she married on her 21st birthday in 1949. Marrie and James, often called Howell, moved to Port Arthur, TX in 1950 where their five children were born and they still lived together until her death.
Marrie loved to do counted cross-stitch. Her many cross-stitch projects are true works of art and will forever provide precious memories of her loving, patient, and selfless nature. Nana as she was called by many, surrounded herself in every room of her house with pictures of her immediate and extended family.
The sadness of her death for those who loved and cherished her will find comfort in the loving arms of Jesus Christ.
Marrie is preceded in death by her daughter, Jen Howell Boyden, grandson, Stephen Howell, four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband, James Howell, son Dennis Howell (wife, Sandy Norris Howell) of Nederland, daughters Ida Howell Ross (husband, Ridley O. Ross) of San Antonio, Avis Howell of Beaumont, Edith Howell of Beaumont, and her youngest sister, Jen Borden Farrington (husband, Owen Farrington) of West Bay, Grand Cayman, B.W.I. Nana, has five grandchildren, Jimmy Howell of GA, Christopher Howell of NC, Michael Ross of FL, Bryan Ross of GA, Brittni Boyden Robins of NM and one step-grandson, Austin Gaspard of Nederland. She also has two great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Marrie will be buried next to her daughter, Jen, and infant grandson, Stephen Howell at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
